World of Warcraft Item Upgrades

Item upgrades can be used to boost the stats of an item. Based on the type of upgrade, it may increase an item's Mark Level or Rarity, as well as boost other stats.

Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests and each item has an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the next item by a specific amount.

Item Level

The value of an item's basic stats increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all of an item's leveled-up perks (attack magic attack and defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high, depending on the upgrader and what type of upgrade you choose to make. This is due to the number of perks that have to be changed in order to upgrade an item.

It can also be used to enforce gating requirements when queueing for raids, dungeons and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement when queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is restricted to a lower level). The average level of an item is listed on the character sheet.

When deciding whether to purchase or sell equipment, players can compare the item level. It's a measure of the item's condition and quality. The item level can also be used to compare items when evaluating the inventory of a seller.

On your PC, you can check the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item's full description, including the ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing /itemlevel in chat.

There are several theories on how the item level calculation is done. One theory says that the level of an item is calculated by formulas that determine how valuable the stats of an item really are. It takes into consideration the fact that different perks have different worth and gems in sockets increase the item's overall value. This process could result in a calculated amount for the item's level, which is usually close to Blizzard's real item level.

However, this is not the only factor which can affect an item's ilvl as the level of the area the item was dropped in could change the value of its stats, such as by adding a level to its crit rating or haste rating. Items that drop in higher-level instances will have a higher value.

Item Stats

Item stats are a big component of what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in many ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to encourage players to experiment with other weapons. The base stats on a weapon are enhanced by the weapon's stat modifications that are in turn enhanced by the player's level.

The upgrades to items add by boosting certain stats on the item. The costs for upgrades are determined by the rarity of the item. For instance, a grey or white item upgrader kit can only be upgraded once, while an item with rare levels will be upgraded multiple times, at higher costs.

Affixes are another way to alter the stats of an item. These are special stat boosts that can be added to an item by the player, and are available in all shapes and sizes. The affixes can be used to give the item additional damage, or add a unique ability to the item (such as reviving dead or cutting down cooldowns) or make the item unique by giving a special name to the item.

All affixes are being re-rolled right now by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This will cost a specific amount in gold and other items. They can also be used as upgrade gauges, similar to other rerolling methods.

Players can choose to upgrade an item to specific stats or reroll attaches. The possible stat ranges for an item are determined by the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within that range, unless it is an item that is unique or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.

Another thing that could change is the possibility of upgrading equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. But, like base equipment, this would have to be done on a per-item basis, and the interface for comparing items will not show all the stats that could be either lost or gained at the same time.

Item Luck

The Luck stat of a player stacks up to increase the odds of finding items and the properties that are spawned from loot drops and the intensity of those properties. It does not, however, directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It merely gives the player a possibility to obtain better gear in earlier waves, and is therefore more beneficial in the initial game run as opposed to later ones, because most players value more powerful weapon scaling and defenses over the raw damage gain.

Luck can also increase the chances of upgrading items at the Blacksmith. This is not to be confused with the Blacksmith's overall upgrade probability, which increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.

The shields, armor and weapons come with a default Luck value of 40. These items can be enhanced with golden ingots, or spined leather (depending on the type of material) to increase the value of 40 luck or to increase the luck of the item to 140.

Certain items, like the weapon that is infused with hollow can also be crafted to increase the damage of any ability that is able to deal damage by 5%. These items can be bought from the shop, or they can be crafted using the right ingredients.

Item Failure

Not all upgrades are successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the success rate of an Upgrade Item or to stop players from losing their item if it does not work.

When you upgrade an item, the rate of success is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage is the chances of completing the upgrade successfully, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much the success rates can be improved, and the overall chance of an upgrade item failing can't exceed 100%..

The luck of an item can affect the success of an upgrade. Every item has an initial success rate of 25% and each item with Luck increases that chance by 5%.

It is important to note that upgrade items are rendered above the items in the inventory, so enchantment glint and other effects can be masked by the overlays. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the Item Upgrader CORE client config.
