Path of Exile item upgrade Upgrades

The performance of many Path of Exile items can be improved by upgrading their performance. They can also provide additional damage, AD or even affixes.

Sometimes, however upgraded Common and Magic gear is often surpassed by Rare-grade gear due to their requirements.

Armor

Armor upgrades can be applied to both armor and weapon items. They improve the effectiveness of the item level upgrade they are connected to. Upgrades to armor are available in the game's world and can be purchased from Blacksmiths at any bonfire. They can also be salvaged using an expert or higher salvage kits to salvage upgrade components from items.

The amount of damage that an armored piece or weapon can absorb depends on the level of its upgrades. Upgrading a piece of armor to maximum upgrade level will increase its damage absorption. But, it's important to be aware that this upgrade will increase its weight, causing it to be heavier than it was before.

There are several kinds of armor upgrades that are that are available in the game and they all have distinct effects. Some upgrades give armor an additional number of health points while others make it more powerful and lighter. The name of the upgrade will indicate the type of upgrade the item upgrade can be given, as illustrated below.

Some upgrades also feature magic or a mix of technology and magic which is indicated by the "Magic" or "Hybrid" entry in the table below. Furthermore, some upgrades require charges to use, which is shown by an "Charges" entry in the table below. The charges for these upgrades refresh every day or never expire, depending on the upgrade.

Iron Ore is the cheapest method to upgrade your armor. You can find it by exploring and looting small treasure chests. Titanium is more expensive, however, it is available at the smelters in Orgrimmar and Stormwind City. Some upgrades, like the Reforge or the Hot Potato Books can only be applied on high-level armor pieces. These upgrades can provide significant increases in stats and are well worth the cost.

A piece of armor upgraded to its maximum upgrade level will greatly increase its defense capabilities however, the user must be aware that putting on weight will dramatically reduce its agility and speed. It is not recommended to upgrade armor beyond +9. The added defense typically isn't worth the weight and power expenses of the upgrades.

Weapons

Weapon upgrades allow players to improve the effectiveness of specific aspects of a weapon. Upgrades can improve the accuracy of a rifle or the damage that shotgun shells cause. Certain firearms have upgrades that enhance their inherent qualities. These include Frictionless Materials (improves stability and decreases the chance of weapon overheating) and Kinetic Coils (increases projectile acceleration for more damage).

The majority of weapon upgrades require a whetblade. It's one of three Power Dices and a different amount of Minerals and Erons. They can be obtained by completing side quests or by killing a certain number of monsters and bosses.

Upgrades to a weapon, equipment Set piece, or Whetblade requires visiting the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine and paying her an upgrade cost that is based on a specific number of Bars. You could do this until the weapon or equipment reached its maximum upgrade level and at that point, the upgrades would be reset.

It's still possible, but it is dependent heavily on RNG. Instead, you're better off going to stores and purchasing equipment with low upgrade levels, but excellent base scores and stat distributions. These items will have a greater chance of granting you the highest level of blessings and perks.

Most players will want to prioritize weapon upgrades for the weapons they are most likely to use to allow them to progress quicker. Additionally players, they should also consider upgrading the weapons that are most popular with their teammates to increase their power and effective. Shepard, for example should upgrade his M92F to unlock the Beretta M93R. This will make the weapon more useful when used in conjunction with biotic specialists such as Grunt and Tali.

Jewels

Jewels can be used to boost the stats of a character or to provide additional effects on weapons and armor. Jewelry crafting is a method for making them, in which you combine the gemstone with specific reagents on a jewelry table. The higher the quality of the gemstone, the better the secondary effect. These reagents can be obtained around the world from Treasure Goblins, World Bosses and occasionally by salvaging Legendary equipment. You can also buy them from The Jeweler in exchange for Scattered Prisms and gold.

The Jeweler can enhance the quality of a gem in stages ranging from Crude up to Royal. Based on the tier of the jewel it can provide different stat boosts when inserted into gear, weapons and jewelry.

The Jeweler is able to create the highest levels of gems apart from the rare and legendary ones, which require an appropriate level to obtain. Like other upgrade components jewels can be swapped out by a different jewel of the same type without destroying it. You can only replace the gem once in an item upgrader Mod of equipment.

Utilizing more jewels in the movement will make it feel smoother and is typically performed to enhance the aesthetics of the movement. In addition to enhancing performance, the jewels create a surface that is harder than metal, which means that repeated friction from pivots won't damage them as easily.

In addition to the above upgrades, the player can also get glyphs for their weapons and shields from a Glyphmaster. They offer a small benefit and are able to be swapped easily but aren't guaranteed to drop as loot. Glyphs can be upgraded, like jewelry, at the Jeweler for gold, and also scattered Crystal. Glyphs can also be taken out, which returns them to the inventory. Other upgrade item components such as traits or aegis can't be exchanged, and can only be retrieved with an Upgrade extractor, or salvaging with the Black Lion Salvage Kit, or Ascended Salvage tool.

Trinkets

Trinkets are items of equipment that provide many tiny but valuable advantages to your hero. They can be acquired starting in the beginning areas as loot or personal story rewards from vendors, or by performing road interactions. They can be purchased from the Trading Post, or crafted by jewelers.

The first trinket that a player can unlock is the cloak. It grants a small but valuable boost in speed of movement and the ability to evade. The player can then acquire necklaces, rings, and amulets, in a similar way to how they acquired weapons and armor. Each piece of equipment has an upgrade slot that can be either universal or jewel. Universal upgrades offer smaller bonuses and can be placed in any kind of equipment while jewelry cannot be changed or upgraded and only works with certain kinds of trinkets.

These trinkets grant additional buffs and abilities that are active even when the hero isn't engaged in combat. This allows the hero to perform better when they are not active and also helps fill in the void of a solid team or the absence of any talent tree slots that would normally be filled with the hero's ideal stats.

As a general rule trinket upgrades should be prioritized over BiS (Best in Slot) items that you aren't likely to replace in the near future. Next, any items with desirable statistics that are less significant than the iLevel for the item upgrader kit to be upgraded. This is especially true if an item has multiple stats that you'd like to upgrade, as it's usually more beneficial to upgrade one important stat rather than two sub-optimal ones.

At the beginning of the game, players who are in the jungle will typically want to upgrade their trinket into a red one, while top and mid players will usually opt for a green or pink ward (depending on the matchup). These choices will have a significant impact on the hero's ability to control his map.

In addition to the items mentioned above, players may also find a number of other trinkets in the game in the form of awards and trophies. These can be earned through completing certain milestones within the story. For instance, completing the main quest of a chapter or defeating an opponent.
