World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading

Upgrades can increase the value of weapons, armors and rings. They also increase bonuses like PvE damage and crit chance.

If the weapon's upgrade template is in %, the weapon will increase 3percent of its previous attack damage each time it is upgraded.

The cost of upgrading an item is determined by the item's level. The cost increases with the item's level.

Components

Upgrade components are items that can be put into weapons, armor, and trinkets to provide a stat bonus or extra effect when they're used. They can be obtained by crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades have unique cosmetic effects.

Upgrade components can be inserted into any equipment with a slot for them. The item must be at a minimum upgraded to blue level in order for the component to be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other mods, can only be applied only once. They cannot be replaced or applied multiple times. Infusions and enrichments are a kind of upgrade component that is used to upgrade non-amulet legendary or Ascended equipment, as well as some non-ascended items.
