3 Wheeler Buggies

A three-wheeler is perfect for tackling off-road terrain providing an easy ride for your baby. Seating

There are a variety of options for seating in 3 wheelers. For babies you have the option to use the carrycot and (which MFM reviewer Alice says is a cozy and comfortable lie flat bed that can be used on and off the buggy) and older infants and toddlers can sit in the parent-facing or world-facing seat that is large and padded and does have adjustable ventilation. It's important to note that these seats aren't fully reclined, but they can be adjusted to the lowest level which should still give your child plenty of headroom and space to move around.

A fabric sling is also available. It is advantageous in that it is located within the frame, instead of being placed on top of it as a seat that is modular. This results in a lower centre of gravity, with a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier and lighter to push, particularly over bumpy terrains or curbs. MFM reviewer Kath loved the way that this style of seat dealt with these challenges.

MFM's reviewers discovered that the 3-wheeler frames couldn't pass through their doors at home or car boot. If you're concerned about space, make sure you check the dimensions of the buggy once it is folded before purchasing.

Tyres

Air filled tyres are designed to provide your child with a more comfortable ride by cushioning bumps and uneven surfaces. They're commonly found on pushchairs, such as the Phil & Ted's Sport which MFM reviewer Kath found to be "an amazing ride for my toddler". She also noted that the grippy tyres make it easier to handle cobbles and kerbs.

These tyres can sometimes prove difficult to maintain and will need to be topped up frequently. These tyres are more prone to punctures, and you should always have an repair kit and spare inner tube with you when you're out and about.

PU tyres can be used on pushchairs because they are a cheaper option than air-filled tyres, but they are equally durable. PU tires are easily distinguished by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide well on uneven and tied surfaces.

You can usually identify the distinction between air-filled and PU tire by running your fingers over each one, if it feels hard, then it's rubber and when it slides, it's a PU. You can also test whether your buggy is equipped with PU tyres by sliding them onto a flat, clean surface. They should roll easily and fit snugly into the wheel hubs.

Foam tyres are commonly used in high-performance buggies as well as joggers since they are able to cope with the rough terrain associated with this kind of pushchair. This can make your buggy less stable since the foam loses its springy feel. The tyres can also be noisy, as they make a lot noise when you turn or drive around the town.
