UPVC Replacement Door Handles

The handles on your doors are worn out over time and will need to be replaced. It is essential to be able to match the dimensions of the handles that were previously used when replacing them.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a contemporary handle that can be installed on replacement or new doors. This kind door handle is available in a variety of designs and finishes. This handle is available from several manufacturers, including Avocet ERA Fullex Hoppe Mila Millenco Yale.

The door handles made of uPVC/Composite are constructed of durable materials and are perfect for multi-point lock doors that require a strong design. The handles are inline and work with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They are easily installed on existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be placed and angled to accommodate all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200 000 cycles. This ensures that the finish is of high quality and performance is maintained over time. The sprung lever is adjustable to accommodate a wide range of locks. This is useful for narrower doors where the cylinder is situated further away from the door. A shorter lever is an excellent option for doors that have latches that can be operated by a thumb turn located on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle is different from the lever handles that are used on the majority of doors. These handle types can either use a single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset spindles or inline (pad). They are typically used on upvc chrome door handles doors with double glazing windows handles glazing. They are available in a variety of finishes and variations.

The handles are available in a variety of finishes including White, Chrome, and Gold. The finish is in line with BS EN 1670:2007 Grade 5 and is also resistant to corrosion, giving the handle a high degree of durability and performance for its intended use.

All of the UPVC lever pad designs are supplied with screws and a spindle which allow them to be installed on a new or existing uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger size handle that can often be a benefit when replacing a faulty or worn multi point door lock mechanism. These handle levers are also sprung, solving the problem of handles hanging out of their horizontal position when they are not in use.

It is important to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock as well as the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is often called the 'handle centre' or 'cylinder centres and is an essential aspect in ensuring that you have the right handles.

When you have the right PZ size you will then have to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are a appropriate shape to accommodate the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They typically have of a round or square shape with an internal lever and external push pad.

The majority of UPVC Lever Pads that we sell are spring-loaded. This means they return to a horizontal position when not being used instead of hanging and possibly securing to the frame. This stops draughts and cold air from entering a property. It is also the case that the majority of UPVC lever pad handles are handed that allows you to put them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are typically found on uPVC doors, but can be utilized on other types of doors. They work by using a key to unlock a cylinder case which is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body, permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be fitted with up to six pins. External and internal doors require different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It's dependent on the type of use your doors and handles receive. For example, external doors should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, while doors inside can be secured with the standard cylinder. Certain cylinders come with extra features that increase security, like anti drill or anti bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure that it is the right size for your door. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder, including the thumb turn if you have one. If you are unable to measure using the lock in its position, you can take it out of it. It is important to not have a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The majority of modern cylinders have been designed with anti-drill and bump resistance features built into their design. These are designed to reduce the chance of attack by forcing cylinders to rotate in a different direction. This helps prevent attacks and protect your doors.

There are also cylinders that are constructed to resist snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the break line of the lock, and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than opening the door handles victorian with multipoint locks and leaves little evidence of a burglary, which can impede the insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette is found in the base plate of the door handle. It offers a spring-loaded solution to help return the multipoint lock handles to their resting position after using. These handles used to have no spring, and would slide when the locking mechanism was disconnected. This component is the most effective way to solve this issue. It also stops your door from getting stuck in either the closed or open position as they aren't easy to close manually.

These spring cassettes have been specifically designed for use with sprung multipoint locks, they will not fit multipoint handles that are not sprung and you will need to have a hole specifically cut in the backplate to allow them to fit (please see image for technical diagram). They are a replacement for broken or missing cassettes within the door handle backplate of many brands of uPVC doors. They have a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and are sold as a set.

These spring cassettes are a great cost-effective solution to the issue of your door handles that are sagging. They are simple to install and will increase the lifespan of your uPVC door.
