The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored extremely well in our tests on floors that were bare They are also adept in cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws however, which hinder them from being our first option. One of the weaknesses of the Q5 is its navigation system doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance. It's thus susceptible to become stuck on socks and shoes and could not navigate densely packed rooms very efficiently during our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.

It's still a good deal particularly if your office or home has a lot of bare floors and you want to save money. Additionally, it's quiet and can work when you're at work or school. The only thing it's missing that you can't find in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming on bare floors. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't stay on very well and can't handle dried-on debris. The Q5 is self-emptying cradle however. 2. iRobot Roomba X30

The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also mop floors. It can even clean the floor after it vacuums this feature, which we haven't seen in other robot vacuum/mop combinations.

3. iRobot Roomba X40

This mop and vacuum combination has a sleek, circular design that appears much like a Roomba unit than the boxy models from the rivals. It's one of our most appealing looking robot vacuums. The latest model from iRobot is also its smartest. It has advanced features like enhanced dirt detection and future compatibility (another company’s robot that can wash mop pads on its own).

It's also the only robot vacuum/mop to score a perfect 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured lighting system, a camera and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot vacuum cleaners best we tested that can fully self-refill and empty its base station and it boasts its own self-cleaning robot mop and vacuum mop pads.

The X40, like other iRobot products, is simple to use. It comes with an intuitive mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only downside is that the X40 is still a loud unit. This could be a problem in mornings before work, or during the night when you are trying to fall asleep.

It's also a bit costly however, not as much as the Ecovacs S8 MaxV Ultra or Roborock S8 Omni, which are equally impressive and attractive. If you're willing to live some more volume and a little more cost this is a powerful two-in-one that will delight most.

4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra

The L20 Ultra is the top-of-the best robot mop and vacuum. It comes with a variety of features that are advanced and will make you forget about your chores. Similar to Ecovacs the range-topping X2 Omni and Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra, the L20 is designed to be a hands-free cleaning machine that takes the care of mopping and vacuuming, with a multi-function dock that automatically empty the vacuum's dust bin, fills its water tank and cleans and dry its mop pads.

The smart robot uses the combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and identify obstacles, making it more efficient than its more expensive competitors. It also has a front mounted camera for real-time hazards detection however this was not 100% reliable in our tests and was often confused with power cords or obstructions.

The vacuum cleaner has the capacity to suction up to 7,000 Pascals which is more than enough to complete the task. It also has an attribute called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas of the house based on how dirty the areas are.

For larger homes it's recommended to choose models with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home using the app or voice commands. A stair mode can be useful if you own a large furniture. Additionally the recharge and resume feature that lets your robot vacuum take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.

iRobot RX3

The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you would imagine from its price. It vacuums well and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops with one pad, which uses a reciprocating motion that does a better job cleaning than the other mop cleaners for robots we've tested. And it's highly self-sufficient with a full-featured application and an auto-emptying, washable base.

The iRobot application is designed to guide you through the mapping process which collects information about your floorplan and any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, set up a spot clean or to sort out your rooms with the most dirt to ensure better performance. The app comes with a variety of options, including seasonal suggestions, custom mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.

It is also able to reach corners and Robot Hoover under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has a strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs for pet hair. You can also set up a spot cleaning that scours a specific area.

The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to iRobot Roomba. It is more appealing in its design, similar to Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is great at vacuuming, but it is more likely to be caught on low thresholds. It also has a higher noise than other top robot vacuums we have test. It also has a less intuitive app and a tiny base station that can't be used as a bin for emptying.
