The upgrade of items is a crucial element of enhancing your character. Upgrades increase the base damage and enchantments of items.

They also provide bonuses and enhancements. They are available through the Blacksmith.

Players can recycle any item by pressing the upgrade button on it. Every recycled Best item upgrade adds one level to the gauge for upgrading.

Weapon

When a weapon gets upgraded, it will gain a base damage bonus, as well as an increase in the scaling factor that affects other stats. Some upgrade components have cosmetic effects, while others offer additional attributes. In addition to the normal upgrades, a weapon can be upgraded with an attribute called Calibration that increases certain stats such as Weakspot Damage or Crit Rate. This can be done through the Gear Workbench's interaction menu. Depending on the weapon tier, this can be done up to four times.

After the weapon has reached its maximum level of improvement it can be rebuilt to add additional bonuses and effects or improve specific stats. All of these upgrades can be applied at once, and their effects will depend on how rare the weapon is.

There are two Blacksmiths in the game who can perform these upgrades: Blacksmith Hewg in the Church of Elleh hub area, and Smithing Master Iji in the Road to the Manor Site of Grace. Both require different upgrade materials: Smithing Stones for standard weapons and Somber Smithing Stones for modifying the damage that a weapon inflicts.

In general, it's advisable to improve your weapon's damage first. Then you can increase your armour defense and finally, the secondary stats that are required by your build. In particular, it's common to see melee druids enhancing their weapon before any other gear, since this helps maximise DPS. This is particularly true for enchantments that can boost a weapon's stats and damage.

Armor

Item Upgrades let players enhance the performance of certain armors, weapons trinkets and gathering tools. These upgrades can also bring additional effects, such as additional damage or cosmetic enhancement. Item upgrades are available through crafting, buying from NPC vendors or loot drops, or as quest rewards.

The armor can be upgraded by visiting the Armorer NPC and spending appropriate currencies. Most armor will upgrade to the next level following an upgrade. This is the case for all types of armor, though certain items are not upgradeable at all (such as the starter armor in Great Sky Island).

Most armor upgrades offer some improvement to an item upgrade's defense base or strength. Certain upgrades, however, can lead to significant increases in strength or defense. This is particularly true when upgrading epic items.

Certain upgrades offer special abilities which can be activated while wearing armor. These abilities can be useful in combat, for instance providing a boost to attack speed or blocking. Certain upgrades provide passive effects that are useful for example, reducing damage while wearing armor or enhancing the chance to dodge an attack.

Upgrades to armor can require multiple attempts, depending on the type of armor. If a player wishes to upgrade Steelclash armor to Dragonscale The first attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor with an armor base defense of 59-67. The second attempt will result in a brand new Dragonscale armor that has a base defense between 67-77 and it goes on.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild lets players upgrade their armor sets to level 4. To do this players must visit the four Great Fairy Fountains located in the game. Each of these locations houses the power of a fairy who can upgrade a piece of armor for the player.

Despite popular belief armor isn't useless in The Division 2. Certain armors provide a significant increase in the ability to reduce the damage caused by poison or curse, magic or fire. This makes them very useful for certain types of builds. There are other ways to boost the stats of armor besides upgrading armor, such as using the engineer trait to increase armor penetrating or the challenger to reduce the weight of the entire armor.

Potion

A potion can be upgraded by placing it in the brewing stand to unlock new effects. The upgrade unlocks another effect tier, and can be repeated for more potencies.

The potions also gain an individual color, which can be set by the player using /give. The color affects the clouds that affect the area of effect as well as the arrows that are generated. In Bedrock Edition, the custom potion color also applies to the potions' particle effects.

Place the trinket in the Anvil whenever it is required to be upgraded. This will cause an unpredictable effect on the trinket, either prolonging its life or strengthening its effects. You can reorge an item upgrader kit for as many times as you want, though it will always have an impact that is different from the one you had when you forged it.

You can also upgrade your Trinkets by placing them in a Magical Catalyst located at the Alchemy Station. It will cost you 6 energy and increase the power of the trinket by just a little.
