Item upgrade, commonly known as "upping," improves an item's stats. Each upgrade increment provides an increase in the linearity of a given stat.

Players can recycle six items at once to gain a gauge for each item's upgraded component. The cost of recycling an item varies with its rarity and level.

Upgrade components

An item upgrade in Guild Wars 2 is a process that can increase the effectiveness of your weapon and armor. This can be achieved through various methods, including using upgrade components and upgrading an item's mark level or rarity. In addition, many items can be reforged, which could boost their stats even more.

You can find upgradeable items throughout the game. They are available in all over the world, as well as rewards for missions. Players can also craft them. Upgrade components are the primary method of upgrading equipment. These are items that slot into equipment. The majority of equipment comes with slots to upgrade, and many require a certain level of upgrade. Some upgrade components give specific bonuses while others provide an overall bonus.

There are a variety of upgrade components available in the game. These include universal upgrades, inscriptions, and jewels. Select the item in your inventory, and then open the Upgrade window. The preview will appear on the right hand side of the screen. It will display the expected statistics after the upgrade. The Upgrade button at the bottom will show Blocked if you don't have enough of either.

The upper-right corner shows the number of upgrade components needed for a particular item. The cost of an upgrade increases with the level of the upgrade and its rarity, but it can be reduced by many different ways, such as purchasing upgrades at a merchant or trading them with other players.

The majority of weapons can be upgraded by adding a prefix, like a rune or an insignia, and others can be upgraded by adding a suffix. These upgrades alter the name of the item and add an adjective, like "Radiant" or "Minor vigor. The only exceptions are the non-inscribable weapons, such as shields and foci from the Prophecies and Factions campaigns, that cannot be upgraded using any kinds of mods in any way.

Glyphs

Glyphs are a way to convey visual information. They are animated to grab the attention of the viewer and stimulate curiosity in the brain. The animation of glyphs mimics body language, making them even more effective at conveying the message across linguistic barriers. Glyphs also improve the likelihood of remembering a message by evoking a familiarity in the brain.

Each glyph has a set of values that it could enhance a stat, as shown on the item upgrading when you open the glyph in the Glyph Storage or when you use them to enchant an artifact. This is the maximum value that a glyph can increase a stat's value by and not the amount it will actually increase it by. The value of the glyph depends on the tier and quality of the product you are admiring.

The majority of upgrade components that are inserted into items can't be removed or replaced without dismantling them except for legendary equipment and upgrades. If, however, you have a rune or glyph that hasn't yet been incorporated into your gear, you can move it to another piece of equipment by using the upgrade Glyphs context menu on the Glyphs panel. This will create an entirely new Glyph Set with the selected glyph.

You can take out a glyph by using a Black Lion Salvage Kit, or an Ascended Salvage tool. The item on which the glyph is installed will be destroyed, however the upgraded item can be salvaged by removing the glyph fragments.

A glyph added to an item may cause it to become unstable and the shards of that glyph will disappear from your inventory when you take it down. You can also place an inscription to your equipment to give it a bonus. For example, the glyph Deferred Damage can store damage for the wearer and then deal it out slowly instead of all at once. This is helpful for players who take many hits from their enemies, but do not want to be overwhelmed.

Reroll tokens

Reroll tokens can be used to alter the affixes of equipment and weapons. They can be obtained from many sources, such as mystery boxes and rare drops from skulled monsters, or by killing bosses. Each reroll token grants players a new random affix, which is usually better than the original one. Reroll tokens can also be a good option to reroll stats on weapons and can be upgraded to provide better damage or other perks.

Rerolled items do not appear on the menu for upgrade options, however they can still be upgraded. These rerolled items are able to be recycled by pressing the "upgrade" button which alters the appearance of the window and allows up to six items to be chosen to recycle. The level gauge is increased by recycling an item. The amount is determined by the rarity of the item and its level, which means items with higher levels are more valuable to recycle than lower level ones.

In addition to reroll tokens players can also make use of Star Remnants and Reroll Tokens to reroll the traits of a weapon in an upgraded unit. Rerolls will roll a % chance of a weapon's traits. If it scores higher, then the weapon is upgraded. If it rolls lower, the weapon remains unchanged. Weapons can be rerolled up to three times.

Rerolls are a great option to upgrade an item, but users must be aware that it will reduce the total ilvl of the weapon by the number of rerolls required to raise it to the final level. This effect is most evident on Diadems and Rings, as they have no other options to increase the ilvl.

The Reroll system has been criticized by players for being too expensive and it's more reasonable to let players pay for it with money or food items which would allow them to change their builds without spending too much time and energy. However, paid rerolls are not something that the developers would like to implement at this time in the game's development. Instead, they're planning to add a race change potion in the future.

Leveling

There are a variety of ways to upgrade an item. The first is to increase the upgrade amount, which increases the value of an upgrade for any stat. The second is to increase the effect of an upgrade which increases the damage or heal of a particular stat. The base item can be upgraded to a more advanced upgrade type. Once this is done the new item will keep its iLevel but it will have the upgrade effects of the upgraded type of item.

It is crucial to remember that upgrades are random. In most cases the Best item upgrader roll will result from glyphs, however there are also opportunities for higher or more special rolls.
