The materials are named after when the item upgrading is upgraded, for example Stone Fragments become Stones and Harmony Shards become Life Shards.

Upgrades to items are essential to improve the performance of a character, but it is important to think about the cost of doing so prior to making any changes. Each time an item is upgraded, it will cost an amount of gold that could be better spent on an entirely new piece of equipment. Sets can be utilized in many ways, such as organizing the music on a playlist or classifying students based on their grades.

In Nioh the game, Sets are used to create special effects when players wear pieces from a specific armor set. These bonuses are referred to as Set Bonuses and they can be superior to Effects. Although it is not explained why the armor sets have to be worn together to create these effects, they are a nice method to alter the game when playing the game. The armor sets that have Set Bonuses can be found in various locations throughout Hyrule as well as the Dark Moon and Twilight Temple.

Each piece of equipment in a Set comes with a variety of Set Bonuses that are associated with it. You can identify which ones these are by hovering over the item upgrader mod (you could try this out) and examining the tooltip at the bottom. Set Bonuses are displayed in a box that has a red border.
